Obituary of John Charles Calk

John Charles Calk, age 78, of Gaston, S.C., husband of Ann J. Addy Calk, entered into eternal rest on March 25, 2019.  He was born in Aiken, SC on September 19, 1940, to the late John (Willie) Calk and Margaret Baynham Calk.  John was a very kind, generous, and loving husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed cooking, traveling, camping and making use of gadgets.  He will be truly missed by his family.

John was a retired US Navy CPO.  After retiring from the Navy, he worked first at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a civilian contractor, then as an information Specialist at SLED, from which he retired. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Adrian Calk, siblings William, Elliott and Edna Calk and Britta Reinhardt (granddaughter).  In addition to his wife of 22 years, he is survived by his children, Martye Marshall, John Calk (Darlene), Tina Johanni (Chip), Cindy Baker (Keith), Hank Addy (Dina), Rebecca LeRoy (Sean), 18 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC, and the memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of the funeral home.
