Mrs. Dennis was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Philip E. Dennis, Sr.  She was born in the Pineview Community of Lexington County, the youngest child of Lonnie L. and Lauritha Hook Frye.

Pearl Frye was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School where she played basketball and ran track, and it was there she met the love of her life, Philip Dennis. They were married on December 31, 1939.

As a life-long member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, Pearl taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was a Luther League Advisor and a member of The Women of the ELCA. She was Past Worthy Matron and Treasurer of New Brookland Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #104 and helped organize and served on the Board of the chapter's Rainbow Girls. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Provost Guard of Jamil Shrine Temple and an officer and choir member of the Daughters of the Nile #141. Pearl's last employment was with the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

An avid Gamecock fan, Pearl enjoyed tailgating and going to away games including trips to Notre Dame and Pittsburg. She was also a devout Atlanta Braves fan, especially fond of Chipper Jones.

In the midst of all of her church and civic activity, Pearl was primarily a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed baking and sharing her baked goods with others.

Survivors are her daughter, LaVonne Roof of Springdale and son, Philip E. Dennis, Jr. (Antonette) of Revere, MA; grandchildren, Michael Roof, Karen Roof (Sally Herlong), Jacob Wilkerson (Dana), Keith Dennis (Kim) and Tiffany Lancaster (Neil); great-grandchildren, Rebekah Roof Shaw (Justin), Lydia Roof, John Roof, Anna Wilkerson Evans (Ryan), Addie Wilkerson, Chloe Dennis, Chelsea Dennis, Trace Lancaster, and Madisyn Lancaster; great-great-granddaughters, Finn and Flora Evans and Katy Shaw.
