Obituary of Jonathan Lanier Smith

Jonathan Lanier Smith, 77, of Blythewood, SC, husband of Frances Spinella Smith, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019. He was born on December 13, 1941 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late James Taft Smith and Bertha Shumpert Smith. Jonathan and Frances have owned CPI Printing (Formerly Collins Printing) since 1975. He was a 1960 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and attended Columbia Commercial College. Jonathan was a member of Shandon Baptist Church, Columbia Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends and a member of Columbia Executives and Owners Association. Jonathan was known to all for his kindness and gentle nature.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Christopher Michael Smith of Denver, Colorado; a brother-in-law, Ted J. Spinella (Nancy) of Lexington SC; a nephew, Christopher Todd Carson of Columbia SC and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the chapel at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior the service at the funeral. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens.
