Obituary of Faye Evans Clewis

Funeral services for Faye Evans Clewis will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Terry Cagle conducting the service.  Faye passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 after many months of deteriorating health in Whiteville, NC. She was born on June 9, 1937 in Brunswick County, NC to William and Inez Evans. She grew up in Myrtle Head and went to school at Waccamaw.  Faye moved to Columbia in 1966 with her late husband Robert Clewis when he began his occupation at Carolina Barber Shop in Five Points. Faye began working for Richland County and retired from Richland County Treasure’s Office after many years of service.  She had many friends in Columbia and was a member of Greenlawn Baptist Church for many years. She was a wonderful cook and loved to share with her friends and neighbors. After her husband’s death, she moved to Whiteville, NC to be near her sister Carrie Neal and her brother Cecil and his wife Barbara.  Unfortunately, her sister Carrie Neal died shortly after Faye made the decision to move there.

Faye is survived her brother Cecil Evans and his wife Barbara of Whiteville, NC and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of fifty five years, Robert Clewis; her sister Carrie Neal Evans, and her brothers Charles, Joe, and Coy Evans, all of North Carolina In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenlawn Baptist Church, 6612 Garner’s Ferry Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29209
