Obituary of Annette Louise Lucas

Annette went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on November 28th, 2018 at the age of 78 in the comfort of her home.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harold Lucas; sons Bruce (Carla) Lucas and Randy (Dee) Lucas; grandchildren Travis (Ashley) Lucas, Justin Lucas and Bailee (Kyle) Croft; great-granddaughter Hannah Jean Lucas; brothers Ben (Diane) Watts and John Thomas (Teresa) Watts; sisters Barbara Ann (Frank) Sox and Sara (Joe) Breedlove; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and who thought of her as their second Mom.

Annette is predeceased by her parents Barney and Adell Watts; her brothers James Clarendon “JC”, William, Robert, and Carl; her sisters Margaret Kinard, Evelyn Birchmore, and Carolyn Spurling.

Annette’s family will remember her as a hard-working and devoted mother and wife who loved her home in Sandy Run where she was an avid gardener and bird watcher. She loved growing beautiful flowers and enjoying being outside in God’s creation and fishing and coon hunting in her younger days. Anyone who knew Annette knew that she would not let anyone leave her home hungry as she was a gifted cook and baker. Many loved her amazing pineapple and chocolate layer cakes as well as her delicious southern meals. She also gave generously to many ministries, her local church (First Baptist Church of Gaston), and anyone who was in need.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Gaston with burial following the funeral in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
