Obituary of Mertice D. Summer

Mertice Elaine Dickert Summer, 90, of Cayce, passed away October 19, 2018.  She was born October 31, 1927 to the late John William and Virginia Lominick Dickert of Pomaria. 
 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, W.D. Summer, Jr.; her son, William Dickert "Dickie" Summer; sister, Marian Boozer; brothers, John William Dickert, Jr. and Earl Dickert, Sr.
 
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie McLeod (Foster); son, Randy Summer (Lynn); grandchildren, Summer Tuten (Chris), Elizabeth Goings (Jeremy), Kert, Jerod and Heath Summer; great grandchildren, Alex, Tyler and Thomas Tuten, Paxton and Blakely Goings; as well as nieces and nephews.  She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.  Her legacy was love of her family, which will live on.
 
Mertice graduated from Pomaria High School and received a secretarial degree from Newberry College.  She retired from Drs. Latimer and Clark's office.  She was a charter member of Transfiguration Lutheran Church and enjoyed her friends and fellowship with the Leisure Timers.
 
Services are scheduled for Monday, October 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Transfiguration Lutheran Church.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
 
The family especially thanks Pastor Alex Twedt and members of Transfiguration for their love and support.  Special thanks also to Darcie, Yolanda and Pastor Chuck with Amedisys Hospice, Lynn Cain and Meola Snyder.  She was blessed to have so many angels in her life.
