Obituary of Betty Jean Padgett Cribb
Betty Jean Padgett Cribb, 86, entered into eternal rest on October 6, 2018. She was born in Walterboro, SC, the daughter of the late Christian Daniel Padgett, Sr. and Myrtle Jones Padgett. She was adopted by Mattie Vance Padgett.
Mrs. Cribb (Jean) was a graduate of Dreher High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended the University of South Carolina, Midlands Technical College, and many US Army Financial Schools. She worked for the Department of the Army for over 37 years as Budget Analyst where she received many Outstanding Awards and certificates of Achievement.
Jean was a lifelong member of First Church of Christ Scientist of Columbia and member of The Mother Church in Boston, MA. Her favorite committees were: Chairperson of Literature Distribution Committee, Usher, Care Committee and Librarian of Reading Room. She enjoyed helping senior citizens in every way possible.
She danced for Cayce Historical Museum for 15 years as a Flapper demonstrating the dress and dance of the Roaring 20's.
Jean and her husband of 30 years, Bobby Cribb, US Air Force, Ret., resided in West Columbia. They enjoyed traveling and relaxing at their Lake Murray home.
A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC. Burial will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date.
