Obituary of Harry William Campbell, Jr.

Harry William “Junior” Campbell, Jr., born September 23, 1926, passed away on September 1, 2018. Harry spent most of his life in the cotton mills where he worked for 54 years. He was actively involved in his Church, Columbia Original Free Will Baptist Church. He loved going to Gamecock baseball games and spent many years coaching youth baseball and football. He will be remembered by his family for the great example and Godly life he led. He was humble and always worked to make sure his family had everything and asked for nothing in return.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elsie M. Sturkie Campbell; children, Don (Lisa) Campbell and Beverly (Tommy) Winstead; three grandchildren, Michele Lindner, Danielle Thomas and Mitchell Bedenbaugh; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister, and 1 granddaughter, Ashley M. Campbell.

Services will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Leesburg Road with interment immediately after in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral services beginning at 1:30 PM to 3 PM.
