Obituary of Kay Louise Draewell

It is difficult to express the richness of someone’s life in words alone. Our true memories, our best memories, are defined by acts, no matter how simple. Kayse Draewell is known by many names: wife, best friend, aunt, Ms. Kayse, Mrs. Draewell, sister, daughter, mother-in-law, Grandma D, mom number 2, mom. Each of those names is attached to actions that help define her for us and that stirred emotions that helped describe why we loved her so much. Kayse’s life was devoted to giving love. Her compassion and desire to help better the community led her to serve the greater Lower Richland area as librarian for almost 20 years. During her time at the Eastover Branch of RCPL, she became an advocate and mentor for many within the Eastover community. She enjoyed cooking, morning coffee with her best friend, anything Harry Potter related, dancing with her husband of 33 years, photography, and most of all spending time with loved ones. She and her husband, Ted Draewell, were the epitome of a loving relationship, devoted to each other until the very end. She died on August 4th, 2018 and will be greatly missed by all.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 8th during the times of 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road Columbia SC 29209. Burial will be at a later date.
