Obituary of Kathryn S. Shealy

Kathryn S. Shealy, age 90, passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, July 31st, 2018 in the Sandpiper Nursing home in Mt. Pleasant, SC.  She was born on March 27, 1928 in Columbia SC to Robert and Frances Strange.  She had four sisters and one brother.  She married Ralph Layton Shealy on August 26, 1949 and had 33 married years together before his passing on May 19, 1983. 

Left to honor Kathryn and remember her love is her two children, Ralph Shealy and Lisa Lee; four grandchildren: Katie Shealy, Amy Romanowski, Cameron Frierson, Shannon Lee; three great grandchildren: Layton Shealy, Alexis Lee, and Harper Frierson; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sisters.

Kathryn loved to shop, not for herself, but for others.  She simply enjoyed giving gifts and seeing the joy on other people’s faces.  She made friends easily and was never afraid to “chat up” a stranger. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Thompsons Funeral Home Chapel, Greenlawn, 845 Leesburg Rd., Columbia, SC. The family will greet friends briefly at the Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia, however no graveside service will be held.
