Obituary of Nan Horton Joy

A Celebration of Life service for Nan H. Joy, 90, of Lexington, will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Red Bank Baptist Church, 120 Community Drive, Lexington, SC 29073. Pastor Jeff Wright will officiate. Pallbearers will be Stanton Chapman, Nathan Joy, Justin Joy, Edwin Williamson, Sara and Bryson Joy.  Interment in Southland Memorial Gardens will follow the service. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, July 23, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, which is assisting the family.

Nan Joy passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. Born in Lake City, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Bascomb Horton, Sr., and Rosemond Long Horton. She was a faithful member of Red Bank Baptist Church, and was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Nan also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with her family. 

Nan is survived by her sons, Thomas “Lucky” Joy (Janet) of North Augusta, SC, Freddie L. Joy (Robin) of Lexington; grandchildren, Stanton Chapman (Jennifer), Nathan Joy (Christine), Justin Joy (Jessica), Marianne Williamson (Edwin); 8 great-grandchildren, Sara Joy, Bryson Joy, Kayleigh Williamson, Kamryn Williamson, Kassie Williamson, Aubrey Joy, Paxton Joy, Wittney Martin . In addition to her parents, Nan was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Charlie Joy; 3 brothers, Fred Horton, Bob Horton, Lawton Horton; and a number of extended family members.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church Missions Fund.
