Elizabeth Winn

Obituary of Elizabeth Osborne Winn

Elizabeth Osborne Winn, of Cayce, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018.  She was born to Carl and Carolyn Osborne on November 27th, 1950 in McCormick, SC.

Elizabeth, Libby, Lib, Liz, Ma Dukes, Mom, Ma, her favorite of all was Nana, (but never Nellie). She was known by different names to different people but everyone knew her for one constant; her love. She loved like Jesus intended us all to do, unconditionally.

She was not stingy with her love either.  She loved her work family at Tuomey and Self Memorial Hospital. She poured her heart and soul into her career and patients in the ICU.  She had a unique love of animals.  She spent her retired years pouring her love into rescuing creatures of all kinds. She loved watching sports and criminal dramas while drinking a Coke Zero. She loved her Gamecocks. She began each day by choosing which Carolina shirt she would wear and scouring the internet for game times and recaps of any and all USC sporting events. Most of all she loved her family. She raised 3 kids of her own and a generation of children in Dalzell, SC that affectionately called her Ma Dukes and Mama Libby. She absolutely adored her 3 grandchildren.  They were the love of her life. She was the best Nana and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Alyce Winn; two sons, Berry Winn and his wife Leanne and Jamie Winn and his wife Cristina; one sister, Wessie Mitchell and her husband Bill; two brothers, Ben Osborne and his wife Linda and Frank Osborne and his wife Sandy; two “adopted” children, Drew White and Cindy Thompson; grandchildren, Taylor, Skyelar, and Aubrey; one great aunt, Annie Laurie Sturkey Gebauer; several nieces and nephews and an entire community she helped raise in Dalzell, SC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wally Osborne.

The family would like to thank the staff of the CSR ICU and the entire team on the 6th floor at Providence Health, as well as the ER team at Providence Health NE for showing great compassion and love to not only our Mom but to us as well.  A very special thank you to Robin Lawson of Hospice Care of South Carolina for being our angel on earth during this entire process.

The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. following the visitation in the chapel at the funeral home.  A graveside service will be held in McCormick, SC at Overbrook Cemetery at 6:30 p.m. following the service.  In lieu of flowers please honor her with a donation to one of the rescues she loved so much.  She was a foster with Homeward Bound Pet Rescue, PO Box 4335, Irmo, SC 29063 and an honorary board member with K9 Rescue Warriors, 305 Bordaria Court, Florence, SC 29505.
