Obituary of Lannie Owens Goff

Lannie Goff , age 83, of Springdale, SC was born on Monday, April 15, 1935 in Kershaw County, and passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018.  He was the oldest of five sons born to Heyward Henry and Ora Newley Goff.

Lannie was a 1954 graduate of Olympia High School where he played in various sports, and where he represented the Olympia Red Devils and the State of South Carolina in the North-South Shrine Bowl.  After graduation, Lannie played football for the USC Gamecocks, married his high school sweetheart, Joanne, and served and retired (42-Years) from the S.C. National Guard.

He is survived by his three sons, Owens (Sharon), Robert (Kathy), and Joel (Anne); eight grandchildren; two brothers, Heyward and Bruce; and numerous other family members.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne, married for 62 years; and two brothers, Corbett and Larry.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington located at 4720 Augusta Rd. (US1). Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church (US321).  Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Youth Ministries, 2003 Charleston Hwy., Cayce SC 29033.
