Obituary of Martha Aspedon

Martha Aspedon, 74 of Cayce wife of Gene Aspedon, passed away on to her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 6, 2018. She was born on November 23, 1943 in Aiken, SC. She was the youngest daughter of the late Foster and Geneva McGee. 

Martha had a deep abiding faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She served in several capacities at Broadacres Baptist Church spanning several years including Nursery and Children’s Sunday School Teacher, WMU President, President of Sunday School Class, and served on several committees. Along with her work at her church, she was a very good seamstress, good with cake decorating, and floral design. She loved making wedding cakes and designing wedding flowers.

In addition to her husband of 56 years she is survived by 4 children; a son, John (Melissa) Aspedon; daughter, Linda (David), Shelby (Michael) and Elizabeth; one sister, Daisy Rutland; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Foster McGee Jr. and Conlee McGee; and two sisters, Dorothy and Joyce.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Broadacres Baptist Church, 2350 Taylor Street in Cayce, conducted by Rev. Bill Geddings and Rev. Shane McDaniel. The family will receive friends from 12:30PM until 1:15 PM prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow at Ridge Spring Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.
