Obituary of Alice Outlaw Vining

Services for Alice Outlaw Vining, 94, of South Congaree, will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, 501 Church Street, South Congaree, SC. Visitation with the family will precede the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.

Alice, wife of the late Ernest M. Vining, was born on March 7, 1924, and entered Heaven on June 20, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was the only daughter of the late George E. “Babe” and Letha Crouch Outlaw. Her three sons, George (Frances), Bobby (Lisa) and Ben (Teresa) survive her. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Her brother, Paul D. “Tar” Outlaw also survives. Her brothers, Earl Outlaw and Dick Outlaw, predeceased her. A host of nieces and nephews survive her. Apart from her relationship with Jesus Christ, family was the most important element of her life.

Alice graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in the 1940s at the top of her class. She retired from the S.C.D.O.T. after almost three decades of service. She helped her husband and her brother establish and manage Vining & Outlaw Garage for many years.
