Obituary of Eloise R. Harwell

Eloise Rish Harwell, 81, of Ridgeway, SC, passed away June 13, 2018.  She was born July 13, 1936 in Columbia, SC to the parents of Elijah and Cleo Rish.  She retired from Moncrief Army Hospital Fort Jackson after 27 years of service as the EKG/EEG clinic supervisor.  As supervisor she oversaw the performances of over 15,000 Electrocardiograms annually as well as numerous stress tests, echocardiograms, Holter monitors and electroencephalograms.  She also found time to work with the seriously ill patients and grieving families unselfishly contributing many hours of her personal time to lending support to those in need.  Her philosophy was for success was very simple “I just treat people like I would want to be treated by others.  It works.”

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Wilber Lee Harwell, Sr.  Eloise is survived by her children, Lee Harwell, Lisa Harwell, Michael Harwell, Linda Matheson and Leea Bennett.  She is also survived by one sister, Mary Frances Wingard; and one brother, Marvin Rish.  She had 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 12-1 p.m. at Thompsons Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia with the funeral service to begin at 1 p.m. at Thompsons Funeral home. Burial service will follow in the chapel of Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia.
