Mildred Pace

Obituary of Mildred Patricia Pace

Columbia—Mrs. Pace, 89, was born in Charleston, SC August 27, 1928. Mrs. Pace was called home to be with our precious Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2018.

She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew W. and Mildred Catherine Burk, her husband of 64 years, William T. Pace, Sr., twin daughters, a very special uncle, Harvey W. Mitchum. Mrs. Pace is survived by three loving sons, William Pace, Jr. (Ruthie), Mark Andrew Pace, and Joseph B. Pace (Sherry); brothers, Andrew Burk (Marie) and Michael Burk (Marilyn); 5 grandchildren, Lindsay Deaton, Jared Pace, Patrick Pace, Matthew Pace, Andrew Pace and Rebecca Pace; and 2 great-grandchildren, Hunter Deaton and Gracen Deaton.

Mrs. Pace graduated from Holly Hill High School and then entered the SC Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1950.

She practiced at the Dorn VA Hospital and SC Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Pace was a professionally skilled operating room supervisor highly respected by her doctor peers and loved the medical profession. She continued her medical career until retirement.

She was blessed to be a member of the Park Street Baptist Church, she sang in the soprano section of the choir for 35 years. Music was her love and her godly gift. She served on many committees within the church and taught Women’s Adult Sunday School. She was a member of Women to Women Bible Study and the Ready Sunday School class.

In her spare time she loved RVing in the mountains and at the beach.

In these difficult times, the family wants to thank the Hospice care nurses at Palmetto Health/Richland Memorial hospital for taking such good care of our mother. We also want to thank Brenda for taking care of Mom at home. She was a blessing for our Mom and a dear friend.

Our mother was loved by so many of her friends and our family is deeply saddened by Moms passing but knows her room is awaiting her in God’s Kingdom.
