Coffee & Conversation

Thompson Community Care invites seniors who are single or single again, age 55+, to gather for Coffee & Conversation on Tuesdays from 2PM-4PM. If you would like to enjoy good conversation with other folks over a cup of coffee, this is for you! We meet in the education building at Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033. Enter the church parking lot located behind the church off Naples Ave.
*Cayce UMC has generously donated the meeting space but this program is not affiliated with the church. These gatherings are social in nature and no solicitation regarding services or products will be made.

Fundraiser Night of Food & Fun

Please join Thompson Funeral Homes for a fundraiser as we support St. Lawrence Place, a program of Homeless No More. We've chosen this nonprofit because their mission offers a healthy, coordinated continuum for families. St. Lawrence Place provides clothing, food, school supplies, furniture, welcome baskets, and an abundance of services ranging from tutoring to counseling for their families. These services and supplies enable families to focus on their most important goal – obtaining skills needed to succeed in permanent housing. We hope you will consider contributing. Every little bit will help us reach our goal!

Grief Support Group

Join us at Discovery Village At Sandhill for a monthly Grief Support Group. Co-facilitated by local grief counselor Mary Beth Lamey and Anne Abel, group meetings are designed to help take you from hurting to healing. As a group, we can overcome the struggle and build each other up to a healthy state of being. Join us and let the healing begin.
Mary Beth Lamey is a licensed clinical social worker with Thompson Funeral Homes serving as their Community Care Coordinator. Mary Beth graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Masters Degree in Social Work and has provided counseling and support services to grieving families in the Columbia area for over 19 years.
Anne Abel, B.A. Newbury College, CRCFA. She facilitated caregiver support groups for 19 years and has also led workshops and classes for South Carolina activity professionals, Lieutenant Governor's Office on Aging, South Carolina Healthcare Association, Dementia Dialogues, and the Alzheimer's Association. She has worked in Assisted Living communities in various capacities including activity programming, sales, marketing, and Executive Director. Anne is currently at Lighthouse Hospice in Public Relations.

This program is approved for 3 social work hours and 2 non-social work hours by the National Association of Social Workers.
