Obituary of James Lester Humphries

James Lester Humphries Sr., 76, of Hopkins, SC. passed away on March 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on December 28, 1941 in Cherryville, NC to James and Flora Denton Humphries. Lester worked forty-six years for Bonitz Construction Company Inc. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Humphries is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Painter) Humphries of Hopkins, SC.; seven children, Wanda Sue Taylor, Angela Cortville, Monica Brazell, James Kelly Humphries, Tonya Johnson, Katelyn Humphries, Donald Hadden; and two sisters, Barbara Jean Mauney and Lydia Von Neal. Lester is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Lester was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James Lester Humphries Jr. and Stephen Painter. Lester is also preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Ann Reep. The family will receive friends for Lester's visitation on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. also at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens, 6601 Windwan Rd., Columbia SC.
