Obituary of Maxcy Warren Epting
Maxcy Warren Epting Jr., 95, of Cayce, South Carolina passed away on March 18, 2018. He was born on January 29, 1923 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Maxcy Warren and Amanda Stilwell Epting. He was a US Navy veteran serving in WW II as a crew member on a landing craft during the Invasion of Normandy.
Maxcy is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Jean Workman Epting and family: Dan Epting and Sandra Stone, Timothy and Barbara Epting, Beth and Barry Hall; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Edith Workman, Myra Chapman and Theressa Wilcher.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
He was a long-time member of Cayce First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, multiple terms as chairman of the deacons, and was an active Sunday School teacher and ladies softball coach. Mr. Epting was Chief Engineer at The Loxcreen Company for 34 years prior to his retirement in 1986. He was also a member of American Legion Post #130, and Cayce Masonic Lodge #384. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Murray and Santee. He was a gifted mechanical problem-solver and all-around Mr. Fixit. He was adored by his wife, children, and grandchildren as a Godly man whose advice and counsel they often sought.
The family will receive friends in the sanctuary at Cayce First Baptist Church, 600 Holland Ave, Cayce SC on Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 11 AM until 12 PM with the service to follow. Interment will be held at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W. Dunbar Road, West Columbia, following the service.
