Obituary of Robert Thomas Felkel

Lexington—Robert Thomas Felkel, 84, US Army MSG, Retired, passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 2, 2018. He is survived by his best friend, soulmate, caretaker and loving wife of over 61 years, Francis Ann Ruple Felkel; their two children, Deborah Ann (Felkel) Nelson, her husband Brigadier General (Retired) Jeff Nelson of Lexington, SC and LTC (Retired) Robert A. Felkel, his wife Mary E. "Beth" Felkel of Taylors, SC; two grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Carnes, her husband Kyle Carnes of Lexington and Marion Lee Stoudemire, Jr. of Eugene, Oregon; as well as a beautiful great grandbaby Brenlee Mae Carnes. He is also survived by a sister, Frances Felkel Thompson of Hannahan, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Evans Felkel, Sr. and Mayte Lee Miller Felkel; a sister, Eugenia "Jean" Felkel Perdue; and brothers, Harvey E. Felkel Jr., and Edwin "Eddie" Milton Felkel; and two great-grandchildren, Kylee and Kollin Carnes. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Lexington Baptist Church, 308 E Main St, Lexington, SC 29072, on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:30 AM with Dr. Mike Turner officiating. Interment will be at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229 following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials may be made to the Gideon's International, Lexington West Camp, P. O. Box 452, Lexington, SC 29071 or to the Lexington Baptist Church Missions. The family would like to express a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Warrior Walk.
