Obituary of Cecil Leroy Powers

Cecil Leroy Powers Jr., 78, of Sandy Run, South Carolina passed away March 24, 2018. He was born on May 29, 1939 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Cecil and Mary Davis Powers. Cecil was a 1957 graduate of BC High School. He was strong in his Christian faith and was very knowledgeable in the scriptures. He shared his knowledge with his congregation at Chapel of Truth for over 25 years. Cecil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Molly Guilfoil Powers; sons, Roy Powers (Lisa), Michael Powers and Wade Powers (LaWanna); his beloved grandchildren, Trevor, Liza, Lainey and Terri; and many nieces and nephews. Cecil also leaves behind a sister, Linda Shealy (Frank); and a brother, Tim Powers (Margie). The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home; 4170 Augusta Road, Lexington SC, 29170 on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow the family visitation in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
